Wethersfield Looks Ahead: Growth, Community, and Spirit Shine in 2025

Wethersfield kicked off the year with an uplifting State of the Town Breakfast, where town leaders and community partners came together to celebrate progress, connection, and growth. Some of the speakers we were fortunate to hear from included Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Mayor Ken Lesser, Police Chief Rafael Medina, Superintendent Jeff Whiby, and others. The message was clear: Wethersfield’s roots may be historic, but its momentum is all about the future.

Digital Outreach Reaches New Heights

Wethersfield’s commitment to community engagement has paid off — literally in the millions. The Historic Wethersfield initiative saw over 7 million social media views in the past year and reached a following of 16,000+ users, marking a 50% jump from 2024. Meanwhile, The Great Elm platform for economic development logged over 1 million website and Facebook views in 2025, helping connect residents and businesses with local opportunities and events.

Community Spirit on Full Display

From Cornfest to Pride Fest, and from Heritage Weekend to Holidays on Main, Wethersfield continues to prove why it’s known as the oldest historic town with the best community spirit. The town calendar remains packed with music, markets, and moments that bring neighbors together year-round — a testament to both tradition and togetherness.  Kudos to the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce and to the Shopkeepers which both keep our community engaged and thriving.

A Strong Climate for Business

Supporting local entrepreneurship is a key priority. Programs such as the Façade Improvement Grant, Small Business Investment Loans, and sliding-scale Tax Incentives give business owners the boost they need to thrive in Wethersfield. With a terrific Economic Development Director on board and membership in the Connecticut Economic Development Association, the town is poised for even more growth in 2026.

Milestones in 2025 and Beyond

This year alone, 93 new businesses opened their doors in Wethersfield, bringing in more than $5 million in local investment. Coupled with record-setting digital engagement and statewide recognition, it’s clear that the spirit of progress is alive and well. Looking ahead, townspeople can look forward to creative additions like Snow People on Main and participation in America 250 celebrations in 2026.

As the town continues to balance its rich history with forward-thinking innovation, one thing remains constant — Wethersfield’s sense of pride, purpose, and community spirit is stronger than ever.
